RIMOUSKI, QC, Sept. 21, 2026 /CNW/ -- Nosotech, a Canadian health technology company based in Rimouski, Québec, has been selected by Swissnoso, Switzerland's national reference organization for infection prevention and control (IPC), to implement a digital infrastructure for the surveillance of nosocomial infections, also known as healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Valued at nearly C$15 million over ten years, the mandate was awarded following a highly competitive international tender process.

Two software components for an optimized national infrastructure
As part of the mandate, Nosotech will implement two software components supporting Switzerland's national infrastructure.

• Nosokos (IPC Toolkit): a set of real-time clinical surveillance, investigation and decision-support tools designed to help hospital IPC teams reduce manual processes, identify outbreaks earlier and respond more quickly.

• Nosotech national surveillance platform (IPC Datacenter): a platform that will centralize, integrate and analyze information from participating hospitals across Switzerland, with the dashboards and interoperability capabilities needed for day-to-day use. The solution builds on Nosotech's experience developing and operating large-scale infection surveillance infrastructure.

Harmonized Practices, Phased Deployment
The project aims to strengthen infection prevention and control across Swiss healthcare institutions through a common digital infrastructure. By facilitating the use of data, automating key surveillance activities, and supporting specialized teams in their day-to-day work, it will contribute to measurable improvements in quality of care. National surveillance, benchmarking, and best-practice sharing capabilities will also help harmonize infection prevention approaches across the country.

The Nosokos solution will first be deployed at the Cantonal Hospital of Zug (Zuger Kantonsspital). Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and Thurgau Cantonal Hospital (Spital Thurgau) may join the project as part of subsequent phases provided for under the contract.

Over time, the chosen architecture will support a phased rollout across Swiss hospitals wishing to participate in the initiative, with dedicated support and financial incentive measures designed to encourage adoption among the first participating institutions.

About nosocomial infections
A healthcare-associated infection is an infection acquired during a stay in a healthcare facility that was not present at the time of admission. In Canada, about one in nine hospitalized patients acquires at least one healthcare-associated infection, representing more than 220,000 cases and at least 8,000 deaths each year¹. Healthcare facilities therefore implement ongoing prevention and surveillance measures using specialized solutions such as those developed by Nosotech.
