LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The 13th annual Net Zero Conference will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center on October 8, 2026.
The Net Zero Conference is a gathering place for those shaping the future of the built environment and beyond. Through thought-provoking keynotes, educational sessions, an expo hall showcasing innovative decarbonization solutions, and the Trailblazer Awards Ceremony, the conference creates opportunities to exchange ideas, explore emerging solutions, and turn ambition into action.
The 2026 keynote lineup includes Loren Blackford of the Sierra Club; Marcene Mitchell of World Wildlife Fund; and space systems experts Caitlin Crawford, Carson Schubert, Gary Blackwood, and Carmen Blackwood.
The Trailblazer Awards recognize interdisciplinary leaders whose work is driving meaningful progress for people and the planet. The 2026 awards ceremony will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center as part of the Net Zero Conference. Previous winners include Mayor of LA Karen Bass, Founder of Earth Day Dennis Hayes, Steven M. Hilton of The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, and Google's Lauren Sparandara. See the full list of nominees for this year's event in Metropolis Magazine.
The Net Zero Conference is produced by Verdical Group, a sustainability consulting firm dedicated to decarbonizing the built environment and advancing a more sustainable future. In the 13 years since its inception, the Net Zero Conference has grown from a small, hundred-person event to a large conference welcoming about 1,000 attendees annually.
As Drew Shula, Founder & CEO of Verdical Group and the Net Zero Conference said, "We can stand up and raise our voices. We can focus on creating positive change in our buildings, our businesses, and our cities. We can advocate to build a net zero future for everyone!"
"Net zero design" refers to buildings that consume as much energy as they generate from renewable sources. Governments worldwide are shifting net zero from a voluntary standard to baseline building law, with state-level building codes and city-level building performance standards actively phasing out fossil fuels. Even where not yet required, these efficiency upgrades are still gaining popularity as they can lead to lower utility costs, higher sale prices and rent asks, and notoriety in the real estate market. The built environment accounts for roughly 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions, so this movement has a huge impact when it comes to making our planet more sustainable and resilient!
