FORT WORTH, Texas - Woods Distribution, a full-service third-party logistics (3PL) provider headquartered in Fort Worth, is highlighting its Chicago-area warehousing as a resource for consumer packaged goods (CPG) and food brands that need dependable distribution across the Midwest while keeping their logistics with a single partner.
Chicago remains one of the most important distribution markets in the country, with access to dense consumer populations, major retail networks, and rail and highway connections that reach much of the central United States. For CPG and food companies already working with Woods in Texas, or for Midwest-based brands looking for a new provider, Woods' Illinois operations offer approximately 8 million cubic feet of warehouse space supported by the same teams, systems, and standards used across the company.
"Many of the brands we serve sell into retailers all over the country, and they need a Midwest node that operates with the same consistency they see from us in Texas," said Will Scherer, Director of Sales of Woods Distribution. "Chicago gives those customers a second regional hub without adding a second logistics provider, a second set of systems, or a second learning curve."
Woods' Chicago facilities offer flexible shared warehousing that scales with demand as well as dedicated warehousing for customers who need a custom-built environment. Capabilities include food-grade and temperature-controlled storage, and the company's food-grade programs carry BRCGS AA certification at both its Chicago and Fort Worth locations.
Technology ties the network together. Woods' Chicago warehouses run on a warehouse management system with a tailored client portal, supported by EDI and API integration and real-time operational visibility. Woods' onboarding process is designed to integrate deeply with customers' teams, systems, and processes, so brands can bring a new location online with less disruption.
Value-added services are available on site, which helps customers avoid extra transportation legs and the cost of coordinating multiple vendors. In addition to contract packaging and kitting, Woods' Chicago-area services include transloading and cross-docking and quality control inspections. Multichannel fulfillment supports both traditional retail networks and direct-to-consumer orders.
For brands weighing their options, Woods’ Chicago warehousing can operate as a standalone Midwest solution or as part of a broader network that includes Woods' approximately 30 million cubic feet of warehouse space in Texas. Transportation services, including the company's in-house freight brokerage for FTL, LTL, intermodal, and cross-border freight, connect the two regions and the customers' end markets.
"Running Texas and Illinois inventory through one partner gives brands a much clearer picture of their supply chain," Scherer added. "They get consistent reporting, consistent processes, and one team accountable for performance, whether an order ships from Fort Worth or from Chicago."
Woods serves companies in food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, retail, industrials, health and beauty, and apparel and footwear, providing integrated warehousing, transportation, and packaging designed to reduce complexity across the outsourced supply chain.
